Filtered hash is one of the oldest ways of collecting cannabis resin, and the number of filters on the label tells you how many times it has been sieved. This guide explains how filtered hash is made, what double and triple filtered mean, and how kief and moon rocks differ.
How filtered hash is made
The resin glands on a cannabis flower, called trichomes, can be separated from the dried plant by shaking or rubbing it over fine screens. This is known as dry sifting. The fine powder that falls through the screens is collected and pressed, traditionally with warmth and pressure, into a block of hash. Morocco, and in particular the Rif region, is famous for hash made this way.
Double and triple filtered: what the number means
Each pass through the screens takes out more plant material, so the more times hash has been filtered, the purer and cleaner it usually is.

What is Beldia?
Beldia is the name given to the traditional local cannabis variety grown in Morocco, which has been used for hash making for generations. Beldia hash is made from that traditional plant.
Kief
Kief is the loose trichome powder itself, collected by sieving but not pressed into a block. It is what filtered hash is made from.
Moon rocks
Moon rocks are flower buds coated in concentrate and then rolled in kief, so they combine flower, concentrate and kief in one.
